Uniquely Stephanie Experience: How to Taste Wine Like a Sommelier

Monday afternoons, June 18, July 2, 16, & 30; August 13 & 27; September 10 & 24 2018

Uniquely Stephanie experiences are complimentary to guests staying two or more nights at the Inn.

If you’ve ever wondered how a sommelier can tell what a wine is just by the aroma and flavor, or why a particular wine is the perfect match for your dinner, then this program will reveal their secrets. Join Adelsheim’s Certified Sommelier and Wine Educator Sam Schmitt, or a member of his wine education team, for an engaging and entertaining behind-the-scenes look at how sommeliers evaluate a wine by appearance, aroma, and flavor, by explaining basic wine appreciation concepts, and how all of it translates into selecting the best wine for your dinner (or selecting a wine from a wine list). 45-60 minutes.

Uniquely Stephanie Experience: Willamette Valley vs. Burgundy – How We Compare & Why We’re Uniquely Oregon

Monday afternoons, June 25; July 9 & 23; August 6 & 20; September 17, 2018

Uniquely Stephanie experiences are complimentary to guests staying two or more nights at the Inn.

Oregon has the enviable reputation of being the closest thing to Burgundy for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay outside of France, but is this comparison fair? Join Adelsheim’s Certified Sommelier and Wine Educator Sam Schmitt, or a member of his wine education team, as you explore the similarities and differences between the terroir of the Willamette Valley and Burgundy, and why the wine world makes this comparison so easily, but also why we’re so very different, and so very uniquely Oregon. In this exploration of the geology, climate, and wine making practices between old world Burgundy and new world Willamette Valley through the wines themselves, you’ll never look at Willamette Valley wine the same way again! 45-60 minutes.
